Poetry Study – Schoolio Grade 7 Literature
Encourage a deeper connection with language, rhythm, and meaning through this Schoolio Poetry Study for Grade 7. Over four weeks, students engage with a wide range of poems—each offering unique themes, styles, and literary devices—to build analytical thinking and expressive response skills.
Students will:
- Read and analyze four different poems:
- The Rose That Grew from Concrete by Tupac Shakur
- Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll
- I Lost My Talk by Rita Joe
- This Is Just to Say by William Carlos Williams
- Explore patterns, structure, repetition, and literary devices within each poem
- Reflect on personal connections, the author’s background, and deeper meanings
- Practice summarizing, interpreting, and responding to poetry through guided activities
- Strengthen critical reading, discussion, and creative thinking skills
Each week includes assigned readings, structured discussion and reflection pages, and creative spaces for personal responses. The unit is designed to be flexible, supporting learners at different reading and comprehension levels.
