Meet the Founders

Sathish & Lindsey

You may be surprised to learn that Schoolio is founded and run by real parents and real homeschoolers. We’re not a giant corporation with founders you’ll never see or hear from. We love being closely connected to our community of customers, and you can reach out to Schoolio and connect with Sathish or Lindsey directly.

Meet Schoolio Founder & CEO, Sathish Bala.

Sathish leads the team from a background in entrepreneurship, leadership, and community-building.

Sathish became committed to helping parents have more control over their children’s education and more options to alternative education after experiencing the feeling of powerlessness when his neurodivergent children were struggling in public school.

With a Computer Science degree and 30 years of business success, he believes in using technological innovation to create more truly personalized learning experiences for our kids.

Meet Schoolio Founder & Head of Learning, Lindsey Casselman.

Certified teacher specializing in students with ADHD and Autism, turned homeschooling mom for over 10 years, Lindsey heads up all things to do with learning experience and program design.

The unique Schoolio Program Design emerged from Lindsey’s curriculum-design experience merged with her real-life experience homeschooling her own two neurodivergent kids.

She’s passionate about alternative education and ensuring our neurodivergent kids get the support and personalized programming they need to thrive.

Fun Fact: Both Sathish and Lindsey are neurodivergent! They both have ADHD went through childhood and the school system undiagnosed. They personally understand the challenges and pitfalls of traditional education, and are passionate about creating change.

Mission & Vision

🚀Mission Statement

(What We Do & Why We Exist)

At Schoolio, we believe that education should be built around the learner—not force learners to fit into a system.

We exist to empower families with choice, giving them the tools to create a personalized, flexible, and engaging education that meets their child’s unique needs. Through our AI-powered platform, hybrid-hands-on learning experiences, and future-readiness focus, we ensure that kids are learning in ways that matter..

We’re not just another curriculum. We’re a movement to decentralize education, break free from one-size-fits-all schooling, and raise a new generation of learners who are truly prepared for the real world.

🌎Vision Statement

(Where We’re Going & What We’re Building for the Future)

We envision a future where every child has access to a fully personalized education that is:
Student-centered – Designed for how kids actually learn, not just how schools operate.
Flexible – Allows kids to move at their own pace across different subjects and rethinks what it means to be “at grade level”.
Balanced – Blends curiosity-driven learning, real-world relevance, and personal responsibility.
Future-ready – Prepares kids with financial literacy, emotional intelligence, leadership, and practical life skills, alongside core academics.
Accessible to all – Designed for neurodivergent learners, homeschoolers, and anyone looking for an education that actually works.

As the homeschooling movement grows beyond 100 million families across North America, Schoolio is leading the way—creating a new era of education that prioritizes students over systems and real learning over outdated expectations.

Philosophy of Learning

📚Schoolio’s Philosophy of Learning

(How We Approach Education & What We Believe About Learning)

Learning works when it is built on three core principles:

1️⃣ Relevancy: Why Does This Matter?

All humans learn better when they understand the ‘why’ behind the learning. Kids engage with education in two ways:

  • Through curiosity → “I want to know this just because it interests me.”
  • Through purpose → “I see why this is useful for me in real life.”

Schoolio prioritizes both.
💡 We focus on real-world content that kids can see why learning it matters.
💡 We let kids explore their interests—because when learning is meaningful, it sticks.

2️⃣ Responsibility: Learning Isn’t Always Fun (And That’s Okay!)

As homeschool parents, we have a tendency to be obsessed with making everything fun—but the truth is, not everything we need to learn and do in our lives is fun, or easy. And that’s okay.

Schoolio believes that real-world readiness means teaching kids:
✔ Some subjects require effort and persistence (and we help them learn this).
Not everything is a game, but you still have to do it. Learning how to do hard things and be responsible is part of life.
Education should be balanced—some things are their responsibility to learn, but we make sure they also have room for fun and personal interests.

3️⃣ Balance: A New Model for Education

The best learning happens when curiosity, responsibility, and relevance are all in balance.

Schoolio is built on:

🚀Personalized Learning → Kids work at their own pace, mixing and matching subjects and grade levels.
🚀Hybrid Education → A mix of digital, offline, hands-on, and real-world experiences.
🚀Future-Readiness → Beyond math and reading, we teach financial literacy, emotional intelligence, leadership, and practical life skills.

We are not just another curriculum company. We are not replicating traditional school at home.

We are redefining education—so kids don’t just memorize facts but actually understand, grow, and prepare for their futures.

“I threw myself into creating a curriculum that meets kids where they are, that works for families instead of adding more stress, and that empowers parents to customize their child’s learning in a way that feels natural and sustainable. Homeschooling parents are not looking for ‘school-at-home’, they’re homeschooling for a reason, and they’re not interested in what people say homeschooling is supposed to look like.

Schoolio is more than just a curriculum. It’s a whole new way to approach homeschooling.”

Who Writes for Schoolio?

Lindsey Casselman, founder and Head of Learning at Schoolio, created the original Schoolio program design. Since then, she has overseen many teacher-homeschooler writers on the team, specializing in various areas as we built our massive, multi-subject library.

Lindsey did her Bachelors of Art degree with a major in History and a minor in Sociology. After that, she became a certified teacher by completing her Bachelor of Education and Special Education certification as a teacher, Lindsey specialized in neurodivergent learners, specifically autistic and ADHD students.

Lindsey changed direction after having her own kids, and is now a 10-year veteran homeschooler, curriculum designer, and education consultant.

Her own two kids, both of whom are neurodivergent, were the inspiration for the Schoolio program design. She saw firsthand how traditional “school-at-home” curriculums just didn’t capture what the homeschool community needed.

Since Schoolio’s launch, Lindsey has also earned an eMBA from Schulich School of Business and a Leaders in Learning certificate from Harvard University.
