Students will listen to a read-aloud each day and engage in meaningful discussions and recall activities. As they examine different sources on the same topic, they’ll begin to understand how information is presented, how to identify trustworthy facts, and how to make connections between texts.

Students will:

• Read and compare multiple non-fiction texts about wild cats

• Identify author, illustrator, and text features such as headings, visuals, and organization

• Explore point of view, fact recall, and text structure (e.g., by habitat, diet, or behavior)

• Discuss and reflect with before-and-after reading questions to deepen understanding

• Create their own non-fiction mini book based on what they’ve learned

• Practice decoding and comprehension with level-appropriate reading passages, covering a wide range of fun topics
