Discover Fearless Homeschooling with Sheree Lanette: A Journey into Educational Empowerment ? #InspiringParents

Embarking on the homeschooling journey can be a daunting decision for many parents, filled with uncertainties and questions. In the latest episode of Schoolio Learning‘s EdVenturers Podcast, Sheree Lanette shares her inspiring homeschooling journey, offering insights, wisdom, and a touch of humor.

Trusting Your Instincts: Sheree emphasizes the importance of trusting your instincts when considering homeschooling for the first time. She encourages parents to listen to that initial feeling of uncertainty and turn it into an opportunity for growth and exploration.

Building a Community in Texas: Contrary to the assumption of a thriving homeschooling community in Texas, Sheree reveals that she had no prior knowledge when she started in 2016. Living in an area with few homeschoolers, she navigated the challenge by actively seeking support through Facebook groups and attending homeschool days hosted by businesses, even if it meant traveling.

Family Ecosystem and Overcoming Doubts: Sheree opens up about her family ecosystem, discussing her son’s language delay and the initial concerns raised by her wife about homeschooling. Despite these concerns, Sheree and her husband, both former teachers, decided to take the plunge, realizing the need to provide a tailored education for their child.

Unlearning and Embracing the Journey: Addressing the common worry about not being a teacher, Sheree dispels the myth that formal teaching experience is a prerequisite for homeschooling success. She shares her own experience of unlearning traditional teaching methods, highlighting the flexibility and adaptability that homeschooling offers.

Looking to the Future: As the conversation segues into the future, Sheree briefly touches on her business. She underscores the importance of unlearning conventional approaches, emphasizing that lesson plans can be adapted, and curriculum can be purchased to suit individual needs.

Conclusion: Sheree Lanette’s homeschooling journey is a testament to the power of trusting one’s instincts, building a supportive community, and embracing the adventure of educating at home. Whether you’re a seasoned homeschooler or contemplating this educational path, Sheree’s story is a beacon of inspiration, proving that with dedication and flexibility, anyone can thrive on the homeschooling odyssey.

Embracing the Nomadic Lifestyle: A Conversation with Megan

https://www.youtube.com/@schooliolearning

In the latest episode of our podcast, we had the pleasure of interviewing Megan, a remarkable parent who embarked on an extraordinary journey as a digital nomad. Megan shared insights into her unique lifestyle, shedding light on the concept of a family gap year and the challenges and joys that come with it. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the fascinating details of Megan’s interview and explore the world of being a digital nomad.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

The Nomadic Beginnings:

The conversation began with Lindsay, the host, welcoming Megan and inquiring about her current location. Megan, who was previously a full-time traveler and self-proclaimed digital nomad, revealed that she had settled down in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, making it her forever home. The contrast in temperature between Myrtle Beach and Canada added an interesting dimension to the conversation, setting the stage for a captivating discussion.

Defining the Digital Nomad Lifestyle:

As Lindsay delved into Megan’s background, she touched upon Megan’s self-proclaimed title of being a digital nomad. For the benefit of the listeners, Lindsay asked Megan to provide a rundown of what being a digital nomad entails and to elaborate on the unique lifestyle she had embraced.

Megan explained that her journey as a digital nomad began in 2018, a time when the term was gaining popularity. She clarified that the term “digital nomad” refers to individuals who have the flexibility to work remotely and choose to live and work from different locations around the world. Megan also introduced another term, the “family gap year,” which involves families taking a year off, typically for travel. This concept, too, gained prominence in recent years, especially during the pandemic when remote work became a norm.

The Evolution of the Nomadic Lifestyle:

Megan shared her personal experience, highlighting that her family’s decision to become digital nomads was driven by a desire to break free from a hectic and overwhelming schedule. Originally based in Arizona, where her husband was a school teacher, Megan revealed that their lives were filled with activities and commitments related to their four children, who were actively involved in music and theater.

The Turning Point:

The turning point for Megan’s family came when they realized that despite enjoying the activities they had chosen, they were overwhelmed and miserable. The constant scheduling left them craving a change, prompting them to reevaluate their priorities and lifestyle choices. The initial focus was on traveling, and the decision to homeschool their children came as a secondary consideration.

Conclusion:

Megan’s interview provided a fascinating glimpse into the world of digital nomadism and the evolving concept of a family gap year. Her journey from a packed schedule in Arizona to embracing a nomadic lifestyle serves as an inspiration for those seeking a change in their lives. As remote work continues to gain traction, Megan’s story reminds us of the possibilities that open up when we break free from the conventional and embrace a more flexible and fulfilling way of living.
