What Happens After Sign Up?

Ready to Learn:

Once you sign up your child with Schoolio, you’ll be directed into your Parent Portal. This is where you can manage the learning journey of each child you enroll!

If you’re using Open Exploration, you will see the Resources area followed by your student’s Course Load. If you’re in Scheduled Mode, your timetable will be first.

Your Parent Portal comes pre-loaded with a full year of courses in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. If you’ve chosen Scheduled Mode, you will also see that your first 30 days are already pre-scheduled for you.

If you want, you can stop here and your child is ready to start learning!

Simply logout of the Parent Portal and log your child into their Child Portal- lessons are ready to go!

Building Your Custom Program

Add More Courses:

The mission of Schoolio isn’t about the foundational academics of a traditional school! Head on over to the Marketplace and look for awesome additional content your child will love!

Choose by topics, grade level, and more to find what you’re looking for.

We Recommend:

Interest-Based Electives – Give your child some autonomy and empower them to take ownership of their own education by letting them choose some fun topics!
Future-Readiness – No modern-day program is complete if we aren’t including the topics kids need for REAL success in the REAL world! Add Financial Literacy, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Entrepreneurship, Safe Social Media, and More!
Movement Breaks with GoNoodle – schedule these between lessons!
Mindfulness exercises – Schedule these mini breaks before or after lessons your child finds difficult or has anxiety about (like Math!)

Making Your Own Courses:

One of our most popular features at Schoolio is our Custom Course Builder. Create your own course and you can schedule it into your child’s week as easily as any other course!

We Recommend:

Adding content you’ve created yourself
Adding content you’ve sourced elsewhere (like that cool Pinterest art project you saw!)
Adding your child’s other daily tasks – this could be household chores, pet care, or reading practice!
Adding your child’s sports, clubs, and social events.

Wondering what Student Success looks like at Schoolio? We believe Student Success comes in three key ways:

1. Responsibility – Not all tasks in life are fun. Some are difficult, some are boring, but kids need to learn to tackle their responsibilities without feeling entitled to everything being made into a game.

2. Relevancy – Humans learn best when they understand the why behind what we’re asking them to learn. That’s why Future-Readiness is major for Schoolio kids, this is the stuff they really need to know!

3. Engagement – Going hand-in-hand with relevancy is autonomy: the ability to have a voice and a choice. Students are more engaged, and retain what they learn, when the content is intrinsically interesting to them. That’s why we continue growing our Interest-Based Electives Library, so your child can learn about the things they love!

Student Onboarding Quiz:

The Student Onboarding Quiz is the first thing your child will encounter when they log into their Student Portal for the first time. Here’s what it is, and why it’s important.

Knowing how your child learns best helps us tailor the delivery of their content and gives you insight into the best environment to create at home for your child.

Learning what your child is interested in and what they are curious to learn about helps us and you tailor content and keep them engaged.

When students take ownership of their own learning they are:

Retain more!

Vibe Check:

There’s more to a child’s education than the grades they score.

Vibe Check is a quick, non-invasive daily check-in with students to see how they are feeling emotionally.

Your student response to Vibe Check displays in your Parent Dashboard.

This allows you to see how your child feels about learning.

And notice when they may be struggling emotionally so you can intervene.

Readiness Checks & Assessments:

For every grade you will find a Readiness Assessment and a Final Assessment in Math.

You can find these in the Marketplace and add them to your student course load and schedule as you’d like.

One of the unique features of Schoolio is that we unitize our Math into strands.

This allows for more specific personalization, as some students will be at different grade levels for different strands.

The Readiness Check will test skills from the grade below.

ie. 8th Grade Readiness Assessment is checking that your student knows all the 7th Grade skills, and is ready for 8th Grade.

The Final Assessment can be done after completing the grade, as a “final exam”.

ie. 8th Grade Final Assessment is checking that your student knows all the 8th Grade skills.

Based on your student’s score, they will be recommended to start the next grade or to start with the grade below. If they score less than 50%, you may want to try the readiness check for the grade below before you begin.

Finding the right level for your student in each strand is key to math success and confidence over math anxiety and frustration!

Badges & Certificates:

It’s important for students to have goals and celebrate their accomplishments! That’s why we have beautiful, full-color badges for kids to collect, as well as Certificates of Completion for you to award at the end of courses!

Collecting badges is fun and motivating for kids!

Certificates make kids feel accomplished and have something to show and display.

You can find the downloadable certificates in the Teacher Resources tab at the top of each course. Badges are earned and added your child’s dashboard automatically when they complete a course.

Parent Community

The Schoolio Parent Community is the place to be for Parent Educators using Schoolio! It’s a welcoming and supportive place to make friends, get advice, and ask questions.

Ask about Schoolio specifically, homeschooling in general, education, or anything else! Schoolio Teachers are moderators and happy to help you anyway they can, and our members are amazing at giving support and advice.

Get sneak peeks into upcoming Schoolio features and content, make suggestions in a space where the Schoolio founders actually hang out and take your advice on new features and innovation!

Companion Books

Did you know… Schoolio also has a complete Bookstore of curriculum!

You can download and print any of the lessons, worksheets, and activities within the Digital Platform, but lots of Schoolio families prefer to purchase the Companion Books.

This gives your student the ability to do any of their work offline, without you needing to plan and print ahead. Companion books include lessons as well, so you can take your entire day offline or on the road as needed.
