Course Description:

Schoolio learners engage in tactile and concrete learning activities within the Schoolio Science program. Your student learner will engage in tactile and concrete learning activities, often including games, outdoor activities, and media add-ons. The curriculum supports the development of reflection and investigation skills. Student learners are engaged with full color pages and interesting and varied activities, improving their scientific understanding of the world around them, while developing fine motor skills.

Schoolio Science: Climate Change

This 46-page Schoolio unit provides student learners with knowledge of climate change and the factors that contribute to it, while emphasising some ways that the climate crisis can be helped. The unit includes hands-on demonstrations, a case study, and a public transportation exploration, while encouraging students to reflect upon the impacts they have on the climate, and develop plans for how they can do their part in preventing climate change.

Schoolio Science: Earth’s Crust

This 37-page Schoolio unit focuses on the Earth and its structure and make-up. Student learners explore erosion and weathering, discover soil and geological resources, as well as understanding Continental Drift Theory and plate tectonics. This unit also introduces student learners to land use planning and careers in geological fields.

Schoolio Science: Space

This 49-page Schoolio unit focuses on space, including the planets, stars, space technology and travel, and more. The curriculum helps to strengthen investigation and reflection skills. Student learners are encouraged to think critically about the ethics of space exploration by looking at the issue from different perspectives.

Schoolio Science: Rocks and Minerals

This 40-page Schoolio unit focuses on rocks and minerals, including their identification and classification, along with discovering the various types of rocks and how they are formed. Student learners engage with the rock cycle and where we see and how we use rocks and minerals in everyday life. The unit also includes exploration of erosion, fossils, and caves.

As is the case with all of our units, this unit includes daily lessons, each with exercises or activities to solidify comprehension, plus answer keys.
